The Minister of Health and Human Services met with the British Ambassador and a Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office team at the British Embassy (FCDO). Ambassador Kate Foster, the British Ambassador to Somalia, welcomed the Minister and the other officials who accompanied him with a warm welcome and briefed them on the relationship and collaboration between the Ministry and the Embassy.
The two parties discussed how to renew their commitment to Health Sector Development Cooperation and agreed to work together on the Government-led process of implementing the “BETTER LIVES” Program funded by the FCDO and to ensure UK funding to align the Government’s priorities to provide the Society with an integrated package of essential health services (EPHS) and to strengthen priority Health systems to complement other development projects funded by other development agencies.
The Minister of Health appreciated the United Kingdom for its sustained assistance and efforts in addressing the COVID-19 outbreak and the prolonged drought that has affected over 7 million Somalis so far.
Primary Health Care Package (EPHS) is our National Framework for organizing, coordinating, and delivering Primary Health Care services across the country. The UK government assisted in its design and development.
The Ministry is committed to achieving a healthy society through developing its engagement with Health Development donors in order to address the country’s health needs.
